Possible 6th Armored Division Tanks

6th Armored Division Composite (National Archives)

A good example of an early M4.Possibly a direct vision hull with appliqué applied. Note the early three piece transmission housing, M34A1 gun mount, and welded bogey wheels.

A Pair of M4 105mm tanks (National Archives)

Numbers 15 and 16.The tank in the background of the lower picture might be number 66.  The crew in the lower picture seems to have set up a coil of barbed wire, although I don’t know how effective it would have been.

M4 Calliope (National Archives)

Possibly a 68th Tank Battalion M4 towing what is probably an M8 armored trailer. The triangle looking blotch maybe a mud splatter. This tank seems to have the antenna base that was fabricated from rolled plate and narrow driver’s hoods. Note again the .30 caliber M2 tripod and canvas bucket as stowage. The steel cleat track and end connectors are interesting.

The use of turret racks for stowing packs seems to be common to all of these tanks. Perhaps these are 15th or 69th tank battalion vehicles.
